We’ve been laying low lately. Taking it easy.
DB had back surgery last Tuesday and we’ve been pretty much home bound since. He’s doing great, but we’re keeping things nice and calm (HA! Calm with 4 kids?!) around here so he has the best recovery possible. He'll be getting his (18) staples removed this Friday and I think he'll have some sort of PT set up after his post-op visit at the end of the month (I'm not really sure what happens next). But, so far? Huge blessing. The pain he had for years is GONE. Just incision discomfort now, and weird sensations from the rods/screws that are in his lower back.
We're all very excited at the very real possibility of him being able to do things soon that he hasn't been able to do in a long, long time... like go to the beach with us, go to the park, be in the car longer than 30 minutes, sit anywhere and be comfortable for more than 15 minutes without being preoccupied with pain to the point he can't think straight, walk (for longer stints than to the mailbox and back), exercise, and generally do 'dad' stuff that he hasn't been able to do or enjoy. We're psyched.
But, we gotta rest first so we can get there. :)

Glad DB is on the mend and hoping for a speedy recovery for him! I saw the staples on fb...ouch!
Love that picture...total sweetness!
Just said a prayer!
I didn't know he was having back issues - to put it lightly. I'll be praying for your family and DB in particular. This is going to be an awesome summer for you!
That's my boy!!
Keep on resting. I look forward to seeing tons of pics from all the new activities you all will be doing.
Glad to see a post from my fave Floridian blogger with many small children... I'm still around, just not blogging. I started a new twitter account... and am now presently addicted to instagram (takingheart)...
Good luck keeping 80 fingers and 80 toes quiet whilst you nurse your hubs back to health! If anyone can do it, you can! Take care!

Still loving that picture!
Glad DB is feeling so much better. I mean, after you snapped his shorts and all... EEK ;)
I'm so glad the pain is gone!! It can only get better from here. Keep taking good care of him. :)
So glad he is getting well! IT will be so nice once the recovery part is over, and he can enjoy doing things with you guys again! :)

Yay for that!! Glad he's doing good!
:) baby steps!
My sister had an anterior/posterior spinal fusion when she was eighteen, after two years of fighting with doctors who told her she was too young to undergo such a massive procedure.
After two years of being completely narced out of her gourd, she was thrilled to be pain-free except for the incision pain and getting used to the hardware. Now, you'd never know she ever had any back problems. Let's hope DB has the same outcome!
